Licking Heights Local Schools has partnered with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation to launch a High School Tech Internship program. This program will provide 10 high school students with real-life experience and on-the-job technology training, preparing them for future careers in the tech industry.

The interns will work closely with Licking Heights’ district technology team, gaining hands-on experience in data, cloud and IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, broadband/5G and advanced mobility. Through this opportunity, students will learn valuable skills that are in high demand by tech companies.

The inaugural class of technology interns at Licking Heights includes students from different grade levels who have diverse career aspirations. Some students, like Emily McCord and Zoe Kubinsky, are interested in pursuing careers in cybersecurity. McCord plans to study computer science and engineering at Ohio State University and become a cloud security analyst, while Kubinsky hopes to work in cybersecurity after graduation.

Other students, like Himanshu Mandal, have a specific interest in chip research and manufacturing. Mandal aims to gain experience through the internship that will help him secure a future position at companies like Intel. The High School Tech Internship program is providing students at Licking Heights with valuable opportunities to explore their interests and gain practical skills in the tech industry.

Through this program, Licking Heights is investing in its students’ future success by providing them with the skills they need to thrive in the rapidly evolving tech industry. By partnering with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, Licking Heights is helping its students prepare for the jobs of tomorrow while also contributing to Ohio’s economic growth and competitiveness.

Overall, this partnership between Licking Heights Local Schools and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation represents an exciting opportunity for high school students interested in pursuing careers in the tech industry.
