The Florida Gators have just landed a giant recruit in basketball player Olivier Rioux. Originally from Montreal, Rioux has grown to an incredible 7’9” at the age of 18, making him the tallest teenager in the world.
Rioux’s impressive growth has been well-documented since he was just six feet tall at eight years old, eventually surpassing the seven-foot mark before seventh grade. At 16, he stood over 7’5” and earned a spot in the Guinness World Record book as the tallest teenager. With his father standing at 6’8”, mother at 6’2”, and older brother at 6’9” – Rioux’s towering stature is truly remarkable.
Despite already being one of the tallest players in college basketball, Rioux continues to grow as evidenced by his recent roster update which places him at an astonishing 7’9”. He is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and analyst Travis Branham has praised his size but also noted areas for improvement such as coordination.
Florida had a successful season last year, winning 24 games and reaching the SEC tournament final before falling in the first round of the NCAA tournament. With Rioux on board, the team is sure to attract attention and create excitement among fans and spectators alike as they embark on their Division I basketball journey.
