A Striker’s Choice: The Battle for Tammy Abraham’s Signature in the Premiership

West Ham in pole position to secure signing of former Chelsea striker

West Ham is currently leading the race to sign former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. The club’s manager, Julen Lopetegui, has identified the need for a striker and sees Abraham as the perfect fit to replace aging players like Michail Antonio and Danny Ings.

Roma, Abraham’s former club, is open to selling him this summer as they aim to generate funds for their squad rebuild after missing out on Champions League qualification. The 26-year-old had a successful first season in Rome, scoring 27 goals and winning the Europa Conference League in 2021-22. However, his subsequent seasons were less impressive, with injury issues hindering his performance.

Abraham may be open to a return to the Premier League to enhance his chances of earning a spot in the England national team once again. With a potential transfer fee of around €30m, Roma is looking to offload Abraham to ease their wage bill. Aston Villa, where Abraham had a successful loan spell in the past, is also interested in bringing him back. However, West Ham seems to be leading the race for the striker’s signature, with Villa and Tottenham also in the mix.

As the summer transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see where Abraham ends up and how he can make an impact for his new club.
