Afghanistan Secures Spot in Semi-Finals of T20 World Cup: The Nail-Biting Showdown with Bangladesh

Semi-final Matchups for T20 World Cup 2024: India to face England, Afghanistan to take on South Africa

In a nail-biting conclusion to the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan emerged victorious and secured the final spot in the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh in a closely contested match. This triumph came at the expense of Australia, who were eliminated from the tournament. The four semi-finalists have now been confirmed, with Group 2 leaders South Africa set to face Afghanistan in the first semi-final, while Group 1 toppers India will take on England in the second semi-final.

The first semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan is scheduled to start at 8.30pm local time on Wednesday, June 26, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. The second semi-final between India and England will be held at 10.30am local time on Thursday, June 27 at Guyana’s Providence Stadium. India’s semi-final match will take place at 8pm India time on June 27.

While both matches are of equal importance, they have different playing conditions. The first semi-final will have a reserve day with additional playing time allocated, while the second semi-final will not have a reserve day. Both matches require a minimum of 10 overs per innings to constitute a complete match, unlike the rest of the tournament which requires only five overs per innings.

Given that rain is forecast for both venues, there is a chance that matches may be affected by weather conditions. In case of a washout or abandonment due to poor weather conditions, fans can stay updated on any changes through downloading the official app. If a match is abandoned due to inclement weather conditions or any other reason before it reaches completion, teams that finished higher in their respective Super Eight groups (India and South Africa) will advance as winners of their respective matches
