Aiken High and Regional Rivals set to Dominate at 2021 SC High School Track and Field State Championships.

Local Track and Field Teams Competing for State Championships this Weekend

As the South Carolina High School League track and field season reaches its peak, state championship meets are set to take place in Columbia this weekend. Aiken High has dominated its region championships for years, with the girls team winning nine titles in a row and the boys capturing five consecutive championships. This year, the Hornets will be joined by competitors from Region 4-AAAA schools Midland Valley, North Augusta, and South Aiken at Spring Valley High School.

The four schools have a total of 28 entrants in the state championship meet, including Aiken High’s Eliza King, who is poised to become a four-time state champion in the javelin throw. King recently claimed the Upper State title and set a state record last year. She will also compete in the long jump. Other Aiken High athletes to watch include Sandi King, Scotlynn Staley, and Malasia Jamison, who have all qualified for various events.

On the boys’ side, Aiken High’s Carson Colmer, Cam’ron Frazier, Adam Fundak, and a 4×800 relay team will represent the school at the state championship meet. Midland Valley boasts an impressive roster of entrants, including athletes of the year Torion Whiteisde and Morgan Coverson-Springs. Both Coverson-Springs and Whiteisde are Upper State champions in multiple events. Other competitors from Midland Valley include Dominic Morgan, Kamari Curtis
