Korean Air secures top spot for Asiana freighter business with Air Incheon partnership | News

Air Incheon, a Korean cargo carrier founded in 2012, has been chosen by Korean Air as the preferred bidder for Asiana Airlines’ global freighter business. The two airlines are expected to sign a framework agreement next month as part of the divestment of the freighter business required for the acquisition of Asiana Airlines by Korean Air.

By acquiring Asiana Airlines’ cargo business, Air Incheon will be able to expand its operations beyond Asia and into Europe and the Americas. Asiana Airlines currently operates 11 widebody freighters, mainly Boeing 747-400s, which will provide Air Incheon with access to new routes and customers.

Korean Air stated that the selection of Air Incheon as the preferred bidder was based on a thorough evaluation of various factors crucial to the growth of the air cargo industry. The airline is committed to working with Air Incheon to finalize the sales process quickly through flexible negotiations and completing the acquisition of Asiana Airlines in a timely manner.
