Al-Futtaim Group Sets New Guinness World Record for Solar-Powered Lights and Promotes Sustainability

Dubai’s Guinness World Record-Breaking Solar Lamp Display

Al-Futtaim Group recently set a new Guinness World Record by creating the largest display of solar-powered lights. The achievement, which is part of the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and renewable energy, features 3,000 handmade solar lamps arranged in the shape of a ghaf tree, the national tree of the UAE.

The Tree of Lights initiative was launched by Al-Futtaim Group as part of its partnership with the Climate Conference (COP28) to promote electric transportation and renewable energy sources. By setting this record, the company hopes to raise awareness about sustainability and provide practical solutions for communities without access to electricity. The solar lamps used in the display will be distributed to 3,000 families in remote areas with the help of the Letter of Light Initiative, a UNESCO social enterprise.

The collaboration between various entities within Al-Futtaim Group, including Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, Al-Futtaim Educational Foundation, Al-Futtaim Real Estate Company, Dubai Festival City Mall, and the Blue Rewards application, aimed to engage the community and younger generation in promoting sustainability and addressing environmental challenges.
