Aliquippa Football School Stays in Class 4A for Now: Judge Grants Preliminary Injunction

Aliquippa to Remain in Class 4A Following Judge’s Decision

A judge in Beaver County has ruled that Aliquippa will remain in Class 4A football for the next season. The school had been moved to Class 5A after winning the state title in November, following the PIAA’s competition classification formula. Despite losing an appeal with the PIAA, the school district filed a lawsuit against the organization to prevent the move.

In a preliminary injunction granted by a Common Pleas judge, Aliquippa is allowed to stay in Class 4A for the time being while the case’s merits are determined. This ruling comes after Aliquippa lost its PIAA appeal and was set to play in Class 5A.

The decision means that Aliquippa will continue to compete in Class 4A for at least another season, as they seek a final determination on their lawsuit against the PIAA.
