In April, the largest job gains were seen in various sectors such as health care, social assistance, transportation and warehousing, retail trade, construction, and government. Despite this, there was little change in employment numbers in other major industries like mining, manufacturing, wholesale trade, information, financial activities, professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and other services.
Among different worker groups, the unemployment rate for adult men increased slightly in April while the rate for Black Americans decreased. The jobless rates for teenagers, Hispanics, adult women, white Americans, and Asian Americans remained relatively stable during the month.
The number of long-term unemployed workers did not see significant changes in April and made up about 19.6% of the total number of unemployed individuals.
