Arizona Department of Health Services Renews National Accreditation for Exceptional Public Health Practices.

Arizona’s Health Services Department Successfully Retains National Accreditation

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has once again been reaccredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board, a feat that ADHS Executive Deputy Director, Jennie Cunico, attributes to their commitment to exceptional standards throughout the state. This accreditation is the result of ADHS being evaluated against a comprehensive set of national standards, ensuring that the department continues to evolve, improve, and advance public health practices in the communities they serve.

ADHS is one of more than 400 health departments across the nation that are nationally accredited, a status it has held since 2017. Maintaining this national accreditation allows ADHS to ensure that they are meeting the highest standards in public health and providing quality services to the communities they serve. Cunico expressed her pride in this accomplishment and thanked her team for their hard work and dedication.

In addition to maintaining its own accreditation status, ADHS is honored to continue holding this status alongside health departments in Maricopa, Mohave, Pima, and Yavapai counties, as well as the Pascua Yaqui Health Services Division. Together with these other accredited health departments across Arizona, ADHS can continue to provide exceptional public health services to all residents of our state.

The reaccreditation process involved an extensive evaluation of ADHS’s operations and programs. The Public Health Accreditation Board assessed whether ADHS met or exceeded national standards in areas such as data management systems, environmental health services, behavioral health services, emergency preparedness plans, and more. After thorough review and assessment by an independent board of experts, it was determined that ADHS had successfully maintained its national accreditation status.

Overall, this reaccreditation is a significant achievement for ADHS and represents their ongoing commitment to providing high-quality public health services to all residents of Arizona. With its renewed accreditation status in hand
