During the EBRD annual meeting in Yerevan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the ongoing border liberalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He highlighted the importance of learning to live peacefully as a challenging process for both nations, emphasizing the need for tools to teach both nations to coexist peacefully.
Pashinyan mentioned the intersection project as a potential tool for promoting peace, although Baku has not yet expressed a position on it. While some protesters demanded the suspension of border demarcation and Pashinyan’s resignation, the Prime Minister focused on promoting a peace agenda, including the “Peace Plan” proposed by Armenia.
The conference took place at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, with heightened security measures in place due to protests by the “Tavush for the Motherland” movement. The demarcation commissions recently issued a joint statement outlining plans for measuring and describing the border line, with a deadline set for May 15.
Despite ongoing tensions and protests, Pashinyan remains focused on finding peaceful solutions and tools to foster better relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He emphasized that both nations must learn how to coexist peacefully while acknowledging that such a process comes with its own challenges.
