Bakersfield Health Department Shuts Down Country Kitchen due to Vermin Infestation

Health inspectors in Kern County shut down El Potrero Ln restaurant because of significant vermin infestation

In Bakersfield, California, a health department has closed a restaurant due to a severe vermin infestation. The Country Kitchen on El Potrero Lane is the first restaurant to be closed by the health department in the past four months. The restaurant will remain closed until it is cleaned thoroughly.

An inspector from the county observed a significant number of cockroaches, both dead and alive, throughout the cook line of the restaurant. There was a dead roach found on a waffle maker, and a live roach was seen on a wiping cloth next to an open refrigerator.

Despite attempts to reach the restaurant manager for comment regarding the closure and vermin infestation, no phone calls were returned as of Friday afternoon. The health department continues to work with the restaurant management team to ensure that proper cleaning measures are taken before reopening.
