The team management was unable to reach him as he was sleeping in his room and missed the team bus before the game. A team official had to stay back at the hotel until they were able to contact Taskin, who joined the squad late at the venue. Despite apologizing to his teammates for missing the bus, Taskin was not included in the playing XI for the game against India.
The decision to leave Taskin out of the playing XI surprised fans and experts, with Bangladesh opting for Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mustafizur Rahman as their only two fast bowlers against India. Although Taskin did play in the following game against Afghanistan, the head coach of Bangladesh has not commented on the situation.
