Blake Fisher Brings Depth and Competition to Houston Texans’ Offensive Line Room

The Houston Texans’ draft class has now signed their contracts, with the latest being second-round pick Blake Fisher. Fisher agreed to a four-year deal worth approximately $6.6 million, including a $1.616 million signing bonus. As the final rookie drafted by the Texans to sign, Fisher is expected to provide depth and serve as insurance behind Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil and former first-round pick Tytus Howard.

Being selected 59th overall, Fisher’s experience playing for Notre Dame suggests he could be a part of the Texans’ long-term plans beyond 2024. Despite missing games in 2021 due to a knee injury, Fisher is known for his strong run-blocking skills and high football IQ. The Texans coach DeMeco Ryans praised Fisher’s abilities and potential impact on the team, particularly in adding depth and competition to the offensive line room.

As a three-year starter at Notre Dame, Fisher became the first true freshman to start at left tackle for the Irish in 2021 before transitioning to the right side of the line. He expressed his desire to earn the respect and trust of his teammates and learn from established players like Tunsil and Howard. Fishers intelligence and ability to read the game contribute to his effectiveness on the field, benefiting not only himself but also those around him. The Texans will kick off mandatory team minicamp in the coming weeks, with Fisher expected to continue developing and making an impact as a member of the team.

Overall, Blake Fisher is an important addition to the Houston Texans’ draft class as he brings depth and competition to
