The Buccaneers have announced the signing of former Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard, but they have also added another wideout to their roster. The team confirmed that Cody Thompson has been signed to their 90-man roster.
Thompson, who had a limited role with the Seahawks last season, recorded one catch for 10 yards in seven games. He also contributed on special teams with two tackles and played in five games in 2021, but missed the entire 2022 season due to injury. With Thompson’s addition, the Buccaneers now have 12 receivers on their roster.
The signing of Shepard will bring depth to the team’s receiving corps and provide more options for their offense in the upcoming season. However, if they want to sign Shepard officially, they will need to release another player from their roster as they already have 13 wide receivers.
