Split Ferry and Airport Record Weekend: 106,000 Passengers Expected

The Split airport and ferry port are gearing up for a busy weekend as they expect around 106,000 passengers in both directions. This signifies the successful progress of the tourist pre-season in the Split area. Mate Melvan, head of the Passenger Reception and Dispatch Service at the airport, shared that there will be 195 planes arriving from 25 countries this weekend, transporting a record 46,000 passengers in both directions. The airport has already seen a ten percent increase in traffic in the first six months of the year compared to the same period last year, with further growth anticipated.

Meanwhile, Jelena Ivuli, coordinator of Jadrolinija’s Split shipping area, noted that most tourists visiting the area come from Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The ferry port is set to transport about 60,000 passengers and 13,500 vehicles to and from the islands this weekend, similar to the levels seen in the same period last year.
