Canadian Grandmother Sets New World Record for the Longest Plank at 58: A Journey to Health and Wellness through Multitasking Exercise

Elderly Woman Achieves World Record by Holding Plank Position for 4.5 Hours

A 58-year-old mother of five and grandmother of 12 from Alberta, Canada recently set a new world record for the longest plank. DonnaJean Wilde achieved this feat by holding the plank for an impressive time of 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds, according to Guinness World Records.

To break the record, Wilde had to keep her forearms and toes touching the ground at all times while lifting the rest of her body off the ground and keeping it straight throughout. Her journey with planking began 12 years ago when she broke her wrist and discovered that she could still perform the exercise with a cast on. She fell in love with planking as she realized she could multitask and do other activities while planking.

In preparation for breaking the record, Wilde reportedly held a plank for five to six hours every day, broken down into two- to three-hour blocks. Surrounded by loved ones during the event, she focused on breathing, staying calm, and maintaining her form during the last 30 minutes, which she said was the most challenging hour. Despite finding it overwhelming and dreamlike to finally set the world record after years of planking, Wilde encouraged others with similar goals to keep trying and practicing by incorporating planking into their daily routine whenever possible.
