Caputo to Address Businessmen on Economic Policies at Historic Meeting in Argentina

The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, is set to meet with approximately 500 businessmen at the Stock Exchange on Monday at 6 p.m. This meeting is being organized by the Mediterránea Foundation, a think tank founded by Domingo Cavallo in 1977. Recently, the foundation commissioned economist Carlos Melconian to prepare an economic plan.

Caputo was invited by the foundation two months ago and will be speaking at the event chaired by María Pia Astori. The meeting has been occurring regularly for three decades and has attracted past officials like Alfonso Prat Gay and Milei. Businessmen from various groups are expected to attend, including the regionals, the Business Convergence Forum, and the Group of Six.

The discussion will be coordinated by Juan Ignacio Abuchdid and Osvaldo Giordano, members of the Foundation and prominent figures in the economic sector. While there is no defined agenda, expectations are high for insights into the economic plan direction. Recent sectoral measures announced by Caputo include tariff reductions for input imports in agriculture and automotive industries, but uncertainties about the economic recovery persist.

Businessmen hope for clarity on issues like exiting the stocks, the sustainability of the economic adjustment, and ending the recession. There is also anticipation for progress on the Bases Law, which includes privatizations, extraordinary powers for a year, State reform, and labor reform. The government’s need to pass laws instead of governing by decree is a common sentiment among attendees.

Overall, this meeting aims to provide updates on economic policies
