The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without All-Star Donovan Mitchell for Game 4 against the Boston Celtics due to a calf strain. The absence of Mitchell, who was previously listed as questionable, will be sorely missed by the Cavs. In addition, starting center Jarrett Allen will continue to be sidelined with a rib injury that has kept him out since the first round of the playoffs.
The Cavaliers announced their starting lineup for Game 4, which will include Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, Max Strus, Isaac Okoro, and Evan Mobley. This lineup is missing two key players – Mitchell and Allen – who have been instrumental in Cleveland’s success during the regular season.
Mitchell is a five-time All-Star and Cleveland’s best player. He has been a key contributor in the postseason and his absence will be felt as the Cavs look to even the series, currently trailing 2-1. In the 10 playoff games this season, Mitchell has been averaging 29.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He has been shooting 47.6% from the floor and 35.4% from 3-point range. Mitchell’s performances against the Celtics in the previous games have been crucial for the Cavs, with him scoring at least 29 points in each game.
