The ninth stop of the Global Champions Tour saw Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann ride to a fourth-place finish. The 43-year-old show jumper from Pinneberg, along with her horse Messi, delivered a faultless performance in the jump-off at the Grand Prix of Stockholm. However, they were too slow to secure the win. The victory in the jumping competition went to Belgian rider Olivier Philippaerts with Miro, who was almost two seconds faster than Meyer-Zimmermann.
Philipp Weishaupt from Riesenbeck, the European Championship runner-up who has already been nominated for the Olympic Games with Zineday, was disappointed by the competition. Weishaupt and his top horse received 16 penalty points and finished in 31st place. Just ahead of him was Swedish world champion Henrik von Eckermann with 16 penalty points with his top horse King Edward.
With six stages of the series remaining, Max Kühner from Starnberg, competing for Austria, has taken the lead in the rankings. Kuhner’s impressive performance at Stockholm catapulted him into first place overall. Danish rider Andreas Schou is now in second place behind Kuhner.
The best German rider in the rankings is Christian Kukuk, who did not participate in the Stockholm event and currently sits in fourth place. As we look towards the final stages of this exciting season on the Global Champions Tour, it’s anyone’s race as these talented riders and their horses continue to battle for supremacy on this grueling circuit.
