Charlie Ward Champions Ranch Sports Complex: One Step Closer to Becoming a Reality in Tallahassee

Potential New Sports Complex in the Works for Southeast Tallahassee

The proposed Charlie Ward Champions Ranch sports complex in Southeast Tallahassee is one step closer to becoming a reality after receiving initial approval from the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Commission. The 109.36-acre project, located near the intersection of Capital Circle Southeast and Woodville Highway, includes multi-sport fields, courts, a golf course, a driving range, walking trails, and park areas. About 1/3 of the property will be designated for retail and event space.

Local resident Miesha Barrington is excited about the prospect of having a new sports complex in her community. As a parent of five who frequents Four Oaks Park, she believes that having more options for recreational activities will be welcome addition to the neighborhood. Pickleball player Spencer Duffey also shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating that he looks forward to enjoying more outdoor activities with his family and friends at the new facility.

While the rezoning of the area has been approved by the planning commission, it still needs to go through additional steps before construction can begin. The next hurdle is for the city commission to vote on rezoning at their August 21st meeting.
