Chelsea Signs Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester for £30m, Boosting their Midfield

Chelsea acquire Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester in £30 million deal

Chelsea has completed the signing of midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City for £30m. The Foxes academy graduate, 25, has signed a six-year contract until 2030, and his transfer was completed before Sunday’s Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR) deadline.

Dewsbury-Hall expressed his excitement about joining Chelsea, a club he has always dreamed of playing for. He will reunite with manager Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, who joined the club this summer after winning the Championship title with Leicester last season. Dewsbury-Hall had an impressive season, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists in 44 league games, earning him Leicester’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

Chelsea’s signing of Dewsbury-Hall makes him their fourth summer signing, following other transfers like defender Tosin Adarabioyo, midfielder Omari Kellyman, and teenage forward Marc Guiu. The £30m deal is expected to be included in the club’s 2023-24 accounts. With £40m banked from Dewsbury-Hall’s and Maresca’s transfers, Leicester is gaining confidence that they can stay within the PSR rules, which prohibit clubs from losing more than £105m over three years. Although there are still unresolved issues such as the first charge imposed by the Premier League in March, Leicester remains committed to cooperating in the process to avoid potential penalties.
