A few days after news broke that Higgins had signed his franchise tender, the team announced that he had re-signed with Cincinnati on a one-year deal. Higgins, who is 25 years old, was franchise tagged in February following the completion of his rookie contract with the Bengals. He is scheduled to earn $21.8 million while playing on the franchise tender in 2024, but there is still time for him and the Bengals to negotiate a long-term deal before the July 15 deadline.
Additionally, the team’s other standout receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, is also eligible for a contract extension. Chase recently attended Cincinnati’s mandatory minicamp after opting out of the voluntary offseason program activities.
