Cincinnati Bengals Announce Franchise Tag Renewal for Wide Receiver Tee Higgins Amid Extension Negotiations and Commitment to Keeping Top Talent.

Bengals re-sign Tee Higgins to one-year contract

On Monday afternoon, the Bengals officially confirmed the signing of wide receiver Tee Higgins. A few days after news broke that Higgins had signed his franchise tender, the team announced that he had re-signed with Cincinnati on a one-year deal. Head coach Zac Taylor expressed his excitement about keeping Higgins on the team, praising his handling of the situation and looking forward to the upcoming 2024 season. Taylor stated that the locker room will be happy to have Higgins back.

Higgins, who is 25 years old, was franchise tagged in February following the completion of his rookie contract with the Bengals. As a second-round pick in 2020, Higgins has proven himself with 3,684 yards on 257 catches and 24 touchdowns. He is scheduled to earn $21.8 million while playing on the franchise tender in 2024, but there is still time for him and the Bengals to negotiate a long-term deal before the July 15 deadline.

Additionally, the team’s other standout receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, is also eligible for a contract extension. Chase recently attended Cincinnati’s mandatory minicamp after opting out of the voluntary offseason program activities. The Bengals have shown a commitment to keeping their top talent on board as they continue to build towards success in the NFL.
