On Friday morning, a fire broke out on Business Loop 70 in Columbia, injuring one firefighter with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause and origin of the fire are currently being investigated by fire marshals, according to a press release from the Columbia Fire Department.
This is just one of several fires reported near Business Loop since December 12, when an arson occurred at a storage unit on Nebraska Avenue. Over $100,000 in damages were reported, but no injuries occurred. Another fire was reported at the old Plush Lounge location on March 22, resulting in no injuries.
Dimetrious Woods, owner of Woods Auto Spa near the old Plush Lounge, described the concern he felt the day of the fire. He was up early checking the area and grateful to find it wasn’t his business or his food trailer. He emphasized the local concern surrounding the incidents and urged readers to keep their comments respectful and relevant.
