Connecticut Sun’s Dominant Defense Propels Them to an Elite WNBA Start: A 12-1 Record and a Trip to the Finals”?

Connecticut Sun extend their unbeaten streak with a third straight victory against Dallas Wings

The Connecticut Sun continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant performance in their 85-67 win over the Dallas Wings on Saturday afternoon. This victory marked their third in a row, bringing their league-leading record to 12-1. The Sun quickly took the lead early in the game and maintained a significant advantage throughout, leading by as many as 24 points. Rachel Banham led the team in scoring with 16 points off the bench, supported by four other Sun players who reached double figures. Alyssa Thomas narrowly missed a triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Defensively, the Sun held the Wings to just 37.7% shooting from the field.

With this recent win, the Connecticut Sun have joined an elite group of teams that have started off with a 12-1 record in WNBA history. Only seven other teams have achieved this feat before them, and all of them made it to the Finals. Five of those teams even went on to clinch the championship. The Sun’s defensive prowess has been instrumental in their success, with a league-best defensive rating of 90.7 points allowed per 100 possessions. This defensive rating has not been seen since the 2007 Indiana Fever, making the Sun an extremely challenging team to face.

As long as they continue to play strong defense and maintain their impressive record and defensive rating, it seems likely that Connecticut will be a tough team to beat for any opponent that crosses their path this season.
