Croatia is taking part in the European elections for the fourth time. On Sunday, voters went to the 6,651 polling stations that were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. After this time, a two-day election silence would be in effect until the results were announced.
Ivana Belec from the State Election Commission confirmed that there were no problems reported at the polling stations. The SEC planned to announce the number of voters who had completed their duties at noon and then again at 5 p.m. In these elections for the European Parliament, over 3.7 million Croatian voters have the right to choose 12 Croatian representatives for the next five years.
Croatian voters in 40 countries abroad also have the opportunity to participate in the elections. The first polling stations opened in Australia on Saturday at 7 a.m. local time due to the time difference. With 25 lists of 300 candidates, voters will receive two ballots – one with European candidates and one with candidates for local elections in selected areas.
The first election results will be announced on Sunday at 11 p.m., after the polls close in Italy, which is the last country to vote
