Navigating Economic Growth and Workforce Development on Conduit Street

Local economic growth and workforce development are crucial for the success of communities and the economy as a whole. County governments play a vital role in driving these efforts, but they face various challenges such as rapid technological advancements, workforce shortages, and budget constraints. To overcome these challenges, innovative solutions and strategic planning are needed.

At the upcoming MACo Summer Conference, an expert panel will discuss practical insights and actionable strategies for fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to support economic and workforce development. The session titled “All Ships Rise: Navigating Economic and Workforce Development” will highlight best practices and proven strategies for leveraging comprehensive planning, partnerships, and innovation to create vibrant communities with ample opportunities for residents.

The panel of speakers includes David Iannucci, President and CEO of Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation, Lara Fritts, Executive Director of Economic and Workforce Development in Frederick County, Melanie Pursel, Director of Worcester Tourism and Economic Development, and Mindy Lehman, Chief Government Program Development Affairs and Policy Officer at TEDCO. The session will be moderated by The Honorable Jason Buckel, Minority Leader of the Maryland House of Delegates.
