Egyptian Fertilizer Factories Resume Gas Supplies After Temporary Reduction, Highlighting Importance of Balanced Distribution

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum Announces Gas Supply Return Date for Fertilizer Factories

The Egyptian government announced that gas supplies to fertilizer factories would resume gradually starting the following day after a temporary reduction on Tuesday. The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stated that the gas allocated to fertilizer companies had been redirected to power generation plants due to maintenance work on the gas networks. This led many chemical and fertilizer companies in Egypt to pause their operations as the natural gas network experienced increased pressures, causing instability.

Among those affected by the gas supply reduction were the Egyptian Kuwaiti Holding Company, Misr Fertilizer Production Company (MOPCO), and Abu Qir Fertilizer and Chemical Industries Company. They had to halt their operations as a precautionary measure to prevent further strain on the gas network. This disruption in gas supplies highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance in gas distribution to ensure the stability of the network and prevent interruptions in various industries.
