Empowering Communities: State Representative Rob Matzie Advocates for Broadband Access through Digital Connectivity Technology Program

Matzie urges municipalities and community groups to submit applications for Digital Connectivity Technology Program

As the chairman of the PA House Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities Committee and a board member of the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority, State Representative Rob Matzie is advocating for local municipalities, nonprofit groups, libraries, and other community organizations throughout the state to apply for the Digital Connectivity Technology Program.

Matzie emphasized that the goal of the program is to provide quick, reliable, and affordable access to online opportunities such as job openings, state programs, telemedicine, and shopping. While progress has been made in improving broadband infrastructure, the cost of hardware like laptops remains a barrier for some households. By obtaining laptops through this program, community organizations can make them available to residents in need.

Community organizations eligible to apply for the program include libraries, municipalities, workforce training organizations, nonprofit groups, and other anchor institutions. These groups must be located in areas where affordability has been identified as a barrier to broadband adoption. Applications for the program are now being accepted until August 19.

Matzie encouraged all eligible organizations to apply as soon as possible to take advantage of this opportunity. More information about the program and the application process can be found on the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority’s website. With this initiative
