Ethiopian Runners Dominate ASICS Speed Race in Paris

Report: Amebaw and Yimer Claim Victory in 10km Races at Paris Festival of Running.

The ASICS Speed Race in Paris brought together some of the world’s top runners for a thrilling competition. Likina Amebaw, Jemal Yimer, Hagos Gebrhiwet, and Caroline Nyaga all participated in the 5km and 10km events.

The race took place on a challenging 2.5km loop that started and finished at Palais-Royal near the Louvre. In the women’s 10km event, Amebaw from Ethiopia set a personal best of 29:56 to win, just ahead of Chemnung from Kenya who finished in second place with a time of 30:00. Miriam Chebet came in third with a time of 30:41.

Nadia Battocletti of Italy also improved her own record with a time of 31:19. Yimer from Ethiopia won the men’s race with a time of 27:43, beating Hillary Kipkoech and Vincent Kibet by just one second.

Gebrhiwet, a multiple world and Olympic medallist, dominated the men’s 5km with a time of 13:24. Mohamed Ismael and Adel Mechaal came in second and third respectively. In the women’s 5km race, Nyaga from Kenya finished first with a time of 14:40, ahead of Joy Cheptoyek and Belinda Chemutai who finished in second and third respectively.

Amebaw expressed his excitement for the fast pace of the race and his ambition to compete in the Olympic Games someday. Yimer was fresh off his recent marathon victory and continued his winning streak in Paris. Gebrhiwet showcased his talent ahead of competing at the African Games while Nyaga secured an impressive win in her event.
