Expanding to Over 200 Countries: Google’s NotebookLM Writing Assistant Gets Multimodal Interaction and Support for Various Document Formats

Google’s NotebookLM writing assistant brings Gemini’s multimodal features to Spain.

The latest update to Google’s NotebookLM writing assistant is a major step forward for the app, as it now supports multimodal interaction and can work with documents in a variety of formats. This update has made NotebookLM available in over 200 countries and territories worldwide, including Spain.

Initially, NotebookLM was only available in the United States within Google Labs. However, this new update has opened up access to users all over the world. With Gemini 1.5 Pro language model, users can now interact with the assistant using text, images, graphs, and diagrams from documents. The app also supports new font formats like URLs, presentations, Google documents, and PDF files.

Online citations have been updated to refer specifically to fragments in the user’s sources, making it easier for users to track their sources and ensure accuracy. The guide function has also been improved to allow users to transform their sources into frequently asked questions, briefings, and study guides. This makes NotebookLM an even more useful tool for researchers and educators looking to create summaries and adapt transcripts into drafts.
