On Thursday night, a fire broke out at the Samuel A. Heyward Career and Technology Center in Forest Acres, South Carolina, as reported by the Forest Acres Police Department (FAPD). The Columbia-Richland Fire Department and FAPD quickly responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m. to extinguish the flames.
The Heyward Center, located on Lynhaven Drive, is a Richland County School District One facility that offers high school students classes in various trades, such as culinary skills and electronics. CRFD units worked diligently to put out the fire that had spread to the building’s roof, causing smoke to fill the premises. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
FAPD officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire, though they do not believe it to be suspicious in nature at this time.
