Firefighters Successfully Contain Mljet National Park Wildfire: Preserving Biodiversity and Landscapes

The fire in Mljet was put out

On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the Mljet National Park, affecting low vegetation and a small area of pine forest. Members of the Public Fire Brigade (JVP) and DVD Mljet were quick to respond and managed to extinguish the fire by 7:30 a.m., thanks to their expertise and dedication.

The prompt response and coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams helped prevent the fire from spreading further and causing more damage to the national park. The challenging terrain made the intervention more difficult, but the teamwork and determination of the firefighters led to a successful containment of the fire within a short period of time.

The Mljet National Park is a valuable natural reserve, known for its unique biodiversity and stunning landscapes. Preserving the park’s natural beauty and protecting it from wildfires is crucial in order to maintain its ecological balance and ensure its sustainability for future generations. The Croatian Fire Association (HVZ) reported that 12 firefighters from JVP Mljet and DVD Mljet, along with four fire trucks, were involved in responding to the fire.
