The UND recruits Mac Swanson, E.J. Emery, and Andrew Strathmann, along with Warroad grads Jayson Shaugabay and Hampton Slukynsky have been invited to participate in the U.S. World Junior Summer Showcase from July 26-August 3 in Plymouth, Mich. The camp is designed to assist in the selection process of the team for the upcoming championship event in Ottawa. Players will also be evaluated during the first half of their college seasons to determine their readiness for the tournament.

The World Junior Championship is set to take place from December 26-January 5 in Ottawa. The head coach for USA’s team will be Denver’s David Carle for a second consecutive year. Last year, the Americans won the gold in Sweden. Strathmann was selected in the fourth round, No. 98 overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets last summer. Swanson and Emery are eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft and are expected to participate. Shaugabay and Slukynsky were close picks from each other in last year’s draft, with Shaugabay going to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Slukynsky to the Los Angeles Kings. UND’s forward, Sacha Boisvert, is also being considered for the World Juniors for Canada.
