HERO Sports: Three Rattlers Stand Out as SWAC’s Top Returners in Their Position

The Celebration Bowl Champions are looking to defend their title in the upcoming season, and they have three standout returning players from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). According to HERO Sports, Kendall Bohler, James Ash, and Ashton Grable are the best in their respective positions.

Bohler has been named as HERO Sports’ best FCS returning cornerback, ranking seventh nationally and first in the SWAC. In 2023, he recorded 39 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and an interception. Bohler has received numerous accolades for his performance last season including All-SWAC First Team recognition, BOXTOROW All-American honors, Aeneas Williams Award Finalist status, membership on Bruce Feldman’s Freak List and inclusion on Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List.

Ash was recognized as the best FCS returning defensive tackle by HERO Sports in 2023, ranking 19th nationally and first in the SWAC. He tallied 32 tackles for loss and an interception during his impressive performance last year. Ash also received recognition with a spot on Phil Steele’s All-SWAC Fourth Team.

Grable was named as HERO Sports’ best returning SWAC interior offensive lineman for 2023. Grable showcased his versatility by starting all 11 games at left tackle or right guard positions while delivering strong performances with 22 ‘dominator blocks’, 11 knockdown blocks and two cut blocks. He earned a PFF grade of 70.1 in pass protection with three games graded over 85.0. Grable was a vital asset to Florida A&M Rattlers’ offensive line last year and was recognized with All-SWAC Second Team honors.
