Former NFL Player Charged with Domestic Battery, Faces Professional and Legal Consequences”.

Former Lion Cam Sutton faces charges of domestic battery

A former NFL player, Cameron Sutton, was charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic battery today after being sought in a domestic violence case. Initially, an arrest warrant for Sutton listed a felony count of domestic battery by strangulation, but the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.

On July 17th, police responded to a call about a domestic violence incident in progress and found a female victim with injuries consistent with an assault. Despite their efforts, Sutton was not immediately located after the incident. The Hillsborough County sheriff’s office made headlines when they posted on social media that Sutton, who was still under contract with the Lions at the time, was a wanted criminal who had yet to be apprehended.

The Lions released Sutton and voided his $10.5 million guaranteed salary for 2024 due to his failure to appear in court following the incident. However, it is likely that Sutton and his agent will challenge this decision and fight the domestic battery charge in court.

It remains unclear how this legal battle will unfold for Sutton in the coming days. But one thing is certain: his actions have led to significant consequences both personally and professionally.
