Former Prime Minister David Cameron Urges House Speaker Mike Johnson for Aid Package Passage to Ukraine

UK and France caution US ‘the eyes of the world are on you’ regarding Ukraine assistance – POLITICO

As a former prime minister, Cameron has been actively involved in advocating for support for Ukraine. He visited Washington D.C. in December to urge Congress to pass the aid package and wrote an op-ed in February urging the West not to repeat the mistakes made in dealing with Hitler in the 1930s. Despite his efforts, not everyone has been receptive to his intervention.

Last week, Cameron urged European foreign ministers to contact House Speaker Mike Johnson to help push the aid package through. He emphasized the importance of the funding in changing the narrative about Ukraine and suggested that $60 billion in aid flowing from the U.S. to Ukraine would make a significant difference.

As he prepares for a meeting with Johnson, who leads a group of House Republicans divided over providing military support to Ukraine, Cameron’s comments come as he continues his advocacy efforts for aid to be sent to the country facing conflict with Russia. The $60 billion aid package for Ukraine that was approved by the Senate almost two months ago has not yet been passed by Johnson’s House Republicans
