Free Diabetes Prevention Programs Available in Orange County: Take Control and Prevent Diabetes

The DOH-Orange in partnership with the University of Florida / IFAS Extension Orange County office is currently offering FREE Diabetes Prevention Programs to those who meet certain qualifications. These programs are available both virtually and in-person, giving you the flexibility to choose what works best for you.

To qualify for the program, you must be 18 years or older and have an A1C between 5.7 – 6.4 and/or fasting glucose levels of 100-125mg/dl. Additionally, you must have a family history of diabetes, a history of gestational diabetes, obesity with a BMI greater than or equal to 25, and complete the CDC Prediabetes Risk Test with a participating team member.

The program details include group coaching sessions led by a Certified Health Education Specialist, a Certified Diabetic Education Care Specialist, and trained lifestyle coaches. Sessions will be held weekly from July 18 to October 31, 2024, bi-weekly from November 14 to January 16, 2025, and monthly from February 13 to June 12, 2025.
