Get Ready for a Summer of Science and Fun with Fort Hays State University’s SMEI Camps.

Registration for the FHSU Science Summer Camp is now open.

Summer camps are a great way for children to learn and have fun at the same time. Fort Hays State University’s Science and Mathematics Education Institute (SMEI) is offering summer camps for youth in grades four through eight. These camps are limited to two per student and are filling up quickly. Each camp runs for four days a week, Monday through Thursday, with sessions lasting three hours each either in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon or in the afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.

This year, SMEI is offering several exciting summer camps that explore different aspects of science and math through hands-on activities and projects. The Main Street Math Camp is designed for grades four through six, while the A Sense of Place: Designing for Folklore and Fairytale Camp is suitable for grades five and six. For grades seven and eight, there’s the A Sense of Place: Designing for Folklore and Fairytale Camp, as well as the Camp North Star and Robot O Rama Camps. Finally, there’s the Robo Challenge Camp for grades six through eight.

The registration fee for each camp is $70, and the deadline to register is Friday, May 3. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum of two camps per student.
