Grass Tennis Champions Rise to the Top: Sinner and Paul Win Big Titles in Halle and Queen’s Open

First title as world number one: Jannik Sinner defeats Hubert Hurkacz at the Halle Open

Hubert Hurkacz was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the Halle Open final. Sinner, who is currently the world number one, claimed his first title on grass with this victory. He has lost only three matches this season, which came from Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open and Indian Wells, and Stefanos Tsitsipas in Monte Carlo. As he prepares for Wimbledon, where he will be the top seed, Sinner aims to improve upon his semi-final performance from last year.

In another tournament, Tommy Paul achieved his biggest career title by winning at Queen’s over Lorenzo Musetti. With this victory, Paul became the top-ranked American men’s player, moving up to 12th in the world rankings. In the match, Paul quickly took control, making only two unforced errors in the first set. Although he faced some challenges in the second set with Musetti forcing a tie-break, Paul’s strong serve helped him secure victory on his third match point. In the doubles final, Britain’s Neal Skupski and New Zealander Michael Venus came from a set down to defeat Russian Karen Khachanov and American Taylor Fritz 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 10-8.
