Greek Police Arrest 7 in Connection with Arson Attacks on Israeli-owned Properties: An Ominous Sign of Rising Anti-Semitism in Europe

In the past year, several arrests have been made in Greece for setting fire to Israeli-owned hotels and synagogues. Among those arrested were a 25-year-old Greek woman, two Iranians aged 46 and 36, and a 44-year-old Afghan accomplice. They were charged with arson and causing damage to foreign-owned property in racially motivated attacks that took place on May 15 and June 18.

On May 15, a group of individuals set fire to an Israeli-owned hotel and synagogue in the center of Athens. Among those arrested were two men suspected of being involved in this incident. The Israeli Mossad commended the Greek police for their response to these arrests and accused Iran of orchestrating the operations.

In March of the previous year, two men were arrested by the Greek police for planning an arson attack or an assault on an Israeli restaurant and synagogue in Athens. The charges brought against them included arson, possession of a weapon, and robbery.
