Haneda Airport Receives Skytrax’s ‘World’s Cleanest Airport’ Award for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Skytrax Names This Airport the Cleanest in the World

Tokyo’s Haneda Airport has been named the world’s cleanest airport by Skytrax, as part of their annual World Airport Awards. The airport’s cleanliness was praised by travelers who surveyed over 570 airports worldwide, with Haneda scoring highly in terms of floor cleanliness, seating arrangements, public areas, and restrooms.

Haneda was also ranked as the fourth overall best airport in the world by Skytrax. Additionally, nine out of the top ten cleanest airports were located in Asia, with Haneda leading the way. Japan had four airports on the list, including Centrair Nagoya and Tokyo Narita.

Seoul Incheon in South Korea and Singapore Changi in third place were named as runners-up to Haneda. Doha Hamad in Qatar secured fourth place on the list. The remaining top ten airports included Hong Kong in eighth place, Taiwan Taoyuan in ninth place and Zurich in tenth place – making it only non-Asian airport to feature on this list.

Skytrax also recognized the top cleanest airport for each region – Vancouver for North America, Quito for South America, Juan SantamarĂ­a for Central America and Caribbean and Cape Town for Africa. Brisbane was named as the cleanest airport in Australia/Pacific region while Shanghai Hongqiao was recognized as such for China; Baku was honored for Central Asia and Bangalore for India and South Asia regions respectively.

In a world where over 8.5 billion people travel by air every year, airport cleanliness is more important than ever before to ensure passenger comfort and safety during these times of pandemic especially. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Skytrax’s World Airport Awards which are based on customer satisfaction surveys from over 570 airports worldwide involving travelers from more than 100 countries.
