Inclusive Ballpark Experience: Adapted Athlete Partners with Visalia Rawhide for a Night of Sports and Memories

Visalia Rawhide and The Adapted Athlete Form Unique Partnership to Promote Inclusivity and Sportsmanship

The Visalia Rawhide baseball team is hosting a special night for individuals with disabilities, providing an inclusive environment where they can enjoy the game. Adapted Athlete, a nonprofit organization, has partnered with the Rawhide to provide opportunities for people with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges to participate in sports.

Founded by Nikki Scholl, Adapted Athlete has grown over the years to include private training clinics and sports leagues for hundreds of participants. The idea for a special baseball night came to life through community support and donations, allowing families and friends to enjoy a night out at the ballpark.

To ensure everyone’s comfort during the event, Adapted Athlete and the Rawhide have made accommodations such as providing picture menus for non-speaking individuals and adjusting sound levels throughout the night. The athletes themselves have even had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch and sing the national anthem, creating unforgettable memories for all involved.

Carina Carrillo, founder of Adapted Athlete, expressed her gratitude for the inclusive environment created by their partnership with the Rawhide. This allows families to enjoy a baseball game in a way they may not have thought possible before. The partnership between Adapted Athlete and the Rawhide highlights the importance of creating opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sports and other community activities.
