India Takes Home T20 World Cup Coach Rahul Dravid on Redemption and Moving Forward

On Saturday, India emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest against South Africa, securing their second T20 World Cup title with a 7-run margin. This victory was a crucial moment for the Men in Blue, who had lost the finals of two major tournaments – The World Test Championship and ODI World Cup – in the past year.

Despite this win potentially being seen as redemption for India after their loss in the 50-over World Cup final to Australia just seven months ago, coach Rahul Dravid downplayed the idea of redemption. Instead, he emphasized that he doesn’t dwell on such narratives and is focused on moving forward with the team. He acknowledged that there are many players who have not yet won a trophy and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to coach the team.

Following India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup, Dravid reiterated that he doesn’t seek redemption and that coaching the team was simply a job he loved doing. He praised the players for their hard work and dedication, expressing his enjoyment of the journey working with Rohit Sharma and the team.

Dravid’s contract as head coach of the Indian team came to an end with this victory, as his tenure was extended until only this tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now begin searching for a new coach to replace Dravid and lead
