Indian rowers are preparing to participate in the World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta 2024, which will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland. The event will feature 147 boats across 14 Olympic boat classes, all vying for a total of 30 quota places.

The men’s pair (M2-) and men’s four (M4-) events will see the Indian team competing for quotas at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, and Ashish make up the M4- boat class quartet that won a bronze medal at the Asian Games and finished fourth in a World Cup event. Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram secured a bronze medal at the Asian Games and will be looking to secure a quota for India in the men’s pair event. Balraj Panwar recently secured India’s first Paris 2024 quota in rowing by winning the bronze medal in the men’s single sculls (M1x) event at the Asian and Oceania Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in South Korea.

It is important to note that each Olympic boat class except for men’s and women’s single sculls offers two quota places, with an additional third quota place available for reallocation of host country quota places. However, it is up to National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to decide which athletes represent their countries at Paris Games.
