India’s Cricket Champions Arrive in New Delhi, Face Traffic Constraints on Way to Hotel and Mumbai Parade

Live Updates: Indian Cricket Team Arrives at PM Narendra Modi’s Residence to Celebrate T20 World Cup Victory

The Indian cricket team, having emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup, landed in New Delhi to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their arrival was met with a warm welcome at the IGI Airport and their hotel. In addition to meeting the Prime Minister, Team India had a busy schedule for the day, which included a BCCI felicitation function at Wankhede Stadium and an open bus trophy tour through Mumbai.

Despite traffic restrictions in Mumbai, with seven roads closed to traffic and parking prohibited on 10 roads, the team was able to make their way from the airport to their hotel. The team had been stuck in Barbados due to a hurricane but was flown out on a specially-arranged charter flight. They arrived in Delhi on an Air India flight named AIC24WC after a 16-hour non-stop journey following their victory over South Africa in the final.

Upon arrival in Delhi, the team was greeted by hundreds of supporters holding placards and waving the national flag. After meeting with the Prime Minister, they will head to Mumbai for an open-top bus parade with the trophy. Two buses were ready to transport them from the airport to their hotel before heading to the Prime Minister’s residence for their reception.

Follow Team India’s journey on Thursday as they move from events in New Delhi to celebrations in Mumbai.
