Iran’s 14th Presidential Elections: A Closer Look at the Candidates

New Candidates for President Ebrahim Raisi’s Replacement in Iran

The 14th round of Iran’s presidential elections have begun, with several individuals already registered as possible candidates to replace the late president Ebrahim Raisi. Among the notable candidates are Mehmedreza Sabajian, Mozatfa Khoachbian, Abbas Mokhtada’i, Khodrat Ali Hashemtian, Abd al-Nasser Hamti, Saeed Jalili, and Ali Larijani. Seyd Mohammad-Reza Mirtajodini is a conservative Iranian politician who served as Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs and has been a Member of Parliament for two terms. Zahra Elhian is also a conservative Iranian politician who was a member of the Iranian parliament between 2008-2012 and 2020-2024.

Vahid Hakanian worked as the deputy for special affairs in the office of the leader of the Islamic Revolution after serving as an army commander. Syed Ahmed Rasulinjad is a politician representing the constituencies of Damwand and Firuzkoh in the 11th term of the Islamic Council. Ali-Reza Zakhani serves as mayor of Tehran since 2021. Habibullah Dehmarde is governor of provinces Sistan and Baluchistan, Lorestan, Kerman, and is also a member of Islamic Parliament in tenth and eleventh terms.
