Israel Seeks Entrepreneurs for Two Innovative Traffic Reduction Projects: Trackless Trains and Sea Shuttles

The Ministry of Transport is seeking entrepreneurs to submit proposals for two pilot projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Israel. These initiatives include a trackless train and a sea shuttle, which are expected to ease the burden on roads across the country.

The sea shuttles are planned to travel between ports and docks in cities such as Ashkelon, Ashdod, Netanya, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Hadera, Haifa, and Acre. Companies involved in the development will need to provide details on the type of sea transport, speed, capacity, and comfort levels of the shuttles.

The proposed “wheel trains” are modeled after successful operations in China and are intended to be launched by current public transport companies. Transport Minister Miri Regev has been a proponent of these projects since her previous term and has decided to resume work on them to improve mobility in Israel. The aim is to offer new convenient transportation options to passengers, change their travel habits and reduce travel times between different parts of the country.
