The Israeli army is currently investigating soldiers who tied an injured Palestinian prisoner to an army vehicle during an operation in the West Bank. The suspect was arrested during an anti-terror operation in Jenin and was found to be in violation of orders and applicable rules when he was tied to the vehicle, according to the army on Sunday.
The incident is currently under investigation and being handled accordingly. The video of the incident that occurred on Saturday had been circulating online, showing a man strapped horizontally to the hood of a military jeep as it drove down a narrow street. The army stated that the behavior of the forces in the video does not align with the values of the IDF.
Jenin has long been known as a stronghold for militant Palestinian groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Israeli security forces regularly conduct raids in Jenin and the refugee settlement of the same name. Violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank has escalated since the beginning of the war in Gaza against Hamas, with at least 549 Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers or extremist settlers, as reported by Palestinian sources. Additionally, at least 14 Israelis have lost their lives in attacks by radical Palestinians, according to Israeli sources.
