Josh Maravich: Remembering the Legacy of an LSU Basketball Star and His Connection to a Tragic Family History

Son of Pete Maravich and Former LSU player, Josh Maravich, passes away at 42

Josh Maravich, the son of legendary LSU basketball player Pete Maravich, passed away at the age of 42. The cause of death was not disclosed, but it was reported that he died at his family home in Covington, Louisiana. Despite growing up without his father, who died at the age of 40 when Josh was only 5 years old, Josh continued to pursue his passion for basketball.

Josh excelled on the court while attending St. Paul’s School in Covington and scored over 1,000 points during his high school career. He was named the MVP of his district in his senior year and went on to fulfill his dream of playing college basketball at LSU, just like his father. Although he wasn’t a highly recruited player, Josh walked on to the team and played sporadically under head coach John Brady, scoring a total of four points in seven career games.

After graduating from LSU, Josh remained connected to the university and played a role in the creation of a statue honoring his father on campus. Details about his funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
